Job Description

What you will do:

Planning

  • Partner with internal teams and leaders across Enterprise to create and execute communications strategies for national and local programs, policy work, impact investing and capital products, and community development.
  • Work closely with the SVP, Development and Communications, to implement Enterprise’s brand refresh and messaging across all stakeholders.

Public Relations

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and program leads to find the hook and develop the story that will engage our key stakeholders and position Enterprise as a leader in affordable housing.
  • Lead the generation of both original content and earned media (stories, Op-Eds, interviews, podcasts, etc.) that puts Enterprise at the center of the national conversation about housing and how it relates to racial equity, resilience, mobility, etc. Determine how to share content for measurable impact.
  • Develop roadmaps for senior leaders to be the voices and subject-matter experts across key issues relating to Enterprise’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key media influencers and journalists to ensure Enterprise has a prominent voice in all areas of housing.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders to help Enterprise manage sensitive communications situations.

Management

  • Lead Enterprise’s editorial services which includes supervising media relations and a PR consultant; overseeing a social media manager; and directing a team of communications managers who work with multiple internal teams to create, pitch and position content across platforms.
    • Direct and collaborate with the communications team to create human-centric stories that convey Enterprise’s priorities, approaches, expertise and unique value in creating lasting change in housing and economic equity.
    • Work in partnership with the creative team to influence our core story assets, as well as visually represent our story across all mediums.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related experience; at least 3 years of management experience in a communications role/department.
  • High energy, mature leader with the ability to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  • A team leader with high standards who motivates and coaches colleagues but also digs into the work themselves.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and verbal skills; experience preparing leaders for external communications.
  • Hands-on media-relations experience, including an excellent reputation with reporters and a demonstrated experience in gaining media coverage and in media response.
  • A proven understanding of a story and the ability to package and repurpose information, events and research findings into stories across channels and platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in how to use social media to benefit an organization including its value in amplifying a public message.
  • Experience in procuring and managing consulting services.
  • Experience working on issue advocacy communications; a track record working with government agencies, political leaders and non-profits; knowledge of housing and community development is a plus.
  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Highly collaborative.
